This clip is the first two minuites of the guardians of the galaxy movie

In this film clip the music is used to set the retro and melancholic tone of the scene. The music is dietetic in the beginning for the protagonist as he is listening to that song on his Walkman, when the Grandfather walks towards the boy and takes the headphones off of him the music simmers down and stops showing that the music itself is diegetic, the music itself the lyrics represent the sad emotions that the boy is feeling, mention that "its just a silly phase i'm going through" which may be how the boy views the current situation. The song is called "I'm not in love" by 10cc and may of been used to one definitely represent the time that that the film is set in at the beginning but also to represent how the boy is in the process of trying to detach his emotions from the person that is in the hospital as it hurts to much which is represented by the MISE-EN-SCENE of the scene where the boy has a forlorn look on his face and his body language symbolises that he is upset and in an uncomfortable situation.  The music in this scene used to relate to the boy but also a distraction from the noise around him, giving him comfort. When Peter's Grandfather comes and takes of his head phones it's like that protective shield is being taken off and he is forced to face the reality of the situation; which is his mother passing away in the hospital. During the taking off of headphones the music in the clip shifts to being slightly muted out but still audible ,mirroiring exactly what it sounds like when a person actually takes their head phones off which highlights that the sound within the scene is actually diegetic.

After the headphones come off there is a voice over dialogue that happens between the Grandfather to the boy "Peter" in which is still Diegetic sound as it's within the story and the characters themselves can hear it. During this dialouge we find out who is in the hospital "Your momma wants to speak with you" further emphasises the meaning behind that particular song  that was playing in the background which makes the music parallel to the Diegesis. There is a click of the walk man which stops the music completely which is diegetic.

Furthermore when the music stops you can hear the diegetic sounds of the hospital in the background which is parallel sound, you can hear the sound of the ECG monitor that is tracking Pete's mums heart rate. There is a pause in between the first song playing and the next song that plays as Pete gets up and walks into the hospital room. Between the two songs is where the hospital noises play. This decision was likely made by the producers or directors so that at first the sound reflects the emotions the characters have and then the sound reflects the setting and stem of those emotions. When the next song starts playing the hospital noises are also heard along with it, which creates a sound bridge between the two scenes when peter is outside of his mother's hospital room in the lobby to when he enters it. The song is then used to reinforce the harsh emotions that the protagonist and people surrounding the mother on the hospital bed is feeling, the music being non-diegtic  this time. The sound of light breathing is introduced in this scene that reflects the mothers ill and fabel condition that shes in.

The mise-en-scene of this scene really reflects the mood of it as in the beginning the focus is more on reflecting the time period of the scene using colour saturation, warm colours, and low-key lighting of the setting using sound to introduce the sad themes. Whereas in the second scene the setting is more coolly toned with traditional hospital colours that reflect the grief like morbid feeling of the scene, slightly foreshadowing the mother's death but also the gentle tender delicacy behind the scene similar to the treading on egg shells feeling but moving slowly around death. This emotions are influenced by the music and shift of the colours and tone. The sound overall in this clip is Parallel to the situation and intense underlying emotions.
